An organization of scientists studying the activities that accomplish food and fluid intake. The Society for the Study of Ingestive Behavior, Inc. (SSIB) is a professional organization of research scientists who study feeding and drinking behavior. Included, but not limited to these, are scientists conducting research on the chemical senses, the gastrointestinal tract, and the nervous and endocrine systems, as well as the cognitive, cultural, ecological, and social relationships among animals and/or humans that pertain to the activities of food and fluid intake. The Society's main goal is to advance the study of ingestive behavior by facilitating communication so that members can share new facts and theories among themselves as well as with the public.

Membership Categories

Regular

150 USD/year

  • Individuals who have conducted and published scientific research
    in the area of ingestive behavior.



PostDoc

65 USD/year

  • Individuals who have conducted and published scientific research
    in the area of ingestive behavior and have received their Ph.D. within the past three years.

Student

40 USD/year

  • Individuals engaged in the same types of research, but who are also attending either graduate or undergraduate programs at degree-granting institutions. Applications from part-time students will also be considered.

Emeritus

Waived

  • Researchers who have attained emeritus or retired status at their respective institutions.
