SSIB Presentation Guidelines

  • Avoid terms such as “the obese” or “bulimics” that suggest homogeneity and are depersonalizing. Person-first wording, or precise wording such as BMI > 30, is preferred
  • Avoid gratuitous images of people with overweight or obesity. Stigmatizing pictures that reinforce negative stereotypes should not be used
  • Avoid graphics such as stick figures to indicate groups; verbal labels such as BMI values are preferred
  • Avoid “humorous” cartoons depicting obesity, binge eating or other disordered eating

Poster Information

The poster sessions are important to the success of the conference, contributing to both the breadth and depth of the program. They make it possible for a large number of developments in the field of ingestive behavior to be presented, and give authors the opportunity to discuss results with colleagues in more detail than is possible after an oral presentation.

Poster Guidelines

  • The poster board area is 42 inches wide × 40 inches high
  • Mounting materials are provided onsite
  • No photography is permitted in the poster sessions
  • All poster presentations must be presented in person

Presentation Instructions

  • All poster presenters are expected to present during their assigned poster session
  • Posters are displayed for the whole day, but authors present only during their assigned session
  • Mount and remove posters according to the published schedule
