SSIB 2023 Workshops
MOCK STUDY SECTION
Tuesday, July 11
2:00 - 4:00 PM
Parlor A
We are excited to announce the formation of a mock NIH study section at this year’s annual meeting. This session will take place on July 11th from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and will be chaired by Tim Moran. This is an excellent opportunity for early career members to receive training on the NIH peer review process from a bona fide NIH Scientific Review Officer, Sara Hargrave. Just like real study sections, there will be a training zoom prior to receiving the grants to review and this will occur approximately 3 weeks prior to the annual meeting. This is open to all post-doctoral fellows and junior faculty members who have yet to serve on study section but are curious to know how the process works. Those selected to participate as mock reviewers will have the opportunity to acquire skills to review, critique and score R01 investigator-initiated research grant applications. Grants have been generously provided by SSIB members, and you will have the opportunity to review the actual summary statement and critiques.
